SMALL BUSINESS SEGMENT:

  • Small Businesses are businesses with anywhere between 0 to 49 employees.
  • There are about 5.5 Million small businesses in the UK which produce a total turnover of £1.6 Trillion.



DISCOVERY:

  • For the project, I focussed my efforts on growth-seeking small business owners who want to expand their business and want to turn their small business into a medium-scale business.
  • The Discovery phase involved secondary research and conversations with 8 subject matter experts and 13 small business owners.
  • The growth-focused small business owners are usually younger, digitally savvy, and future-oriented.
  • Through the research, I found some key findings:
  • They are risk takers and take measurable risks in growing their business.
  • They seek growth and business efficiency in order to drive revenue growth in their business.
  • Their businesses usually operate on tight budgets and thereby are unable to hire the right talent to bridge the skill gap on the team.
  • They use third-party business management tools but are unable to make sense of the data they generate.
  • They are amazing at what they do, but they usually lack the right business skills to make better decisions.

  2. Help Small Business Owners in taking the right business decisions



HOW MIGHT WE:

  • How might we simplify the process of leveraging data analytics and provide the right guidance on business decisions to small business owners, thereby empowering them to achieve their growth potential?

INTRODUCING DATASENSE:

DataSense is a business analytics tool designed for small business owners that helps them make sense of their business's data through natural language conversations.

DataSense allows small business owners to make better data-driven decisions.

BUSINESS CASE:

  • The Total Addressable Market of Small Business Owners in the UK is 5.46 Million.
  • With incremental additions to the customer propositions, DataSense can tap into the medium-scale businesses within their target audience.
  • With self-service onboarding, the customer acquisition costs for go-to-market will reduce as compared to other B2B products due to the lower involvement of DataSense employees in the onboarding journeys.
  • DataSense works on a SaaS business model and offers customisable pricing models depending on the usage.
  • With the right scale-up strategies across customer proposition and acquisition, DataSense can expand its propositions tomore than 100 Million Small & Medium Businesses (SMBs) across the world.
