In the Chinese market, there is noticeable food waste in the retailing sector (offline + online), and it is mainly caused by inappropriate seller and consumer behaviours. For example: providing oversized products, unplanned shopping and improper food storage. Such behaviours not only cause food waste and profit loss, but also many social problems such as uneven food distribution and environmental damage. Therefore, we put our focus on the food waste phenomenon in the retailing sector, helping stakeholders to create awareness and encourage their participation in order to alleviate the social and environmental problems caused by food waste.
