The Lost Stories Collective: Decentralising museums to catalyse community integration
In today’s fluid world, we’re witnessing a multiplicity of social forms that break away from spatial proximity. A rapidly globalised world causes local histories to be covered up and inhabitants to be displaced, often stripping a place of its identity. In the current context of the COVID-19 crisis, we see museums, which are primary storehouses of history losing relevance. The project aims to challenge traditional museum structures, which take on the role as authoritative knowledge providers, and use them instead as mediums for communities to take ownership of shared histories, voice personal stories, and boost connectedness.
