Overview

"SLAY THE GAP" addresses the professional invisibility of women on the internet which limits their career development. Many young professional women struggle with low visibility on platforms like LinkedIn, often due to imposter syndrome, limited knowledge, and fear of criticism.

Our project seeks to bridge this gap by empowering women to increase their confidence, secure more opportunities, and fully utilize AI and social media to their benefit through an AI-powered social media management tool called ‘STAGE’, designed to help women professionals enhance their online presence through goal-oriented content that advances their careers.

Collaboration

To support our research and validate our insights into women's professional invisibility and internet-based challenges, we collaborated with industry experts and spoke to our users to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue and potential solutions.

We engaged with AI and tech professionals from LinkedIn, Amazon, and TikTok to explore market gaps, and consulted with internet and gender experts from Oxford University and feminist organizations to assess the problem's scope. Additionally, we conducted interviews with potential users to develop a service strategy that effectively meets their needs and fits seamlessly into their busy lifestyles.

CONTEXT

The invisibility of women in the professional world is exacerbated by their lower online presence, which perpetuates gender data gaps and limits career opportunities.

To break this cycle, it is crucial for women to enhance their professional visibility on the internet and social media, thereby amplifying their career prospects and addressing the broader societal issue of gender inequality in data.

USER CHALLENGES

Our target user is a young professional woman with low online visibility, often posting infrequently on LinkedIn due to imposter syndrome, limited knowledge, and fear of negative feedback.

There is a critical gap in helping her realize the importance of increased online engagement and effectively utilizing technology, AI, and social media to access professional opportunities in a supportive environment.

OPPORTUNITY

How might we amplify women professionals’ voices and visibility on the internet by leveraging AI to help them share their expertise and experiences on social media and access career advancement opportunities?

SERVICE

Introducing STAGE, an AI-powered social media management tool designed to help women professionals enhance their online visibility by generating goal-oriented content that advances their careers.

Our aim through STAGE is to empower our users to increase their confidence and secure more professional opportunities in a supportive community platform, to help them become the best professional versions of themselves.
