About

I am Nitya, a Multidisciplinary Researcher and Designer with an interdisciplinary background in International Relations from Shiv Nadar University, India and Master’s in Service Design from theRoyal College of Art, London

My diverse background has led me to develop a unique perspective that integrates creativity with critical thinking and a profound understanding of global dynamics. My approach to design is deeply informed by insights into race, gender, and class, enabling me to tackle real-world problems with solutions that are inclusive and equitable. I am committed to addressing unconscious bias and fostering empathy, aiming to create user-citizen-centric services and systems that have a meaningful, positive impact on society.

During my time at the RCA, I collaborated on projects with esteemed industry partners like the Ministry of Justice, The London Borough of Barnet, and SDN Young Talent Board and worked on projects spanning verticals such as Public Services, Healthcare, Technology, Education, and Social Impact.  I strongly believe in the transformative power of design to shape a more inclusive and equitable world. My goal is to design services and experiences that are less frictional, more equitable, inclusive, and enjoyable.

Final Project

Over the past five years, women's pregnancy experiences have deteriorated, within the NHS Maternity Sector in the UK. Our project aims to address these challenges by investigating women's health disparities.

Pregnancy is a transformational phase in a woman's life, and a robust support system is crucial. We propose 'Stork', an information delivery tool designed to assist first-time pregnant women who were not born in the UK to navigate the UK's maternity healthcare system. Stork ensures these women are well-informed and confident by providing timely and accurate information. Additionally, it supports midwives by helping them gain visibility into mothers' unique needs thus building stronger, more effective care relationships with expectant mothers.
